Christian Montalbano
Music & Sound Design

As a teen Christian attended The Hun School of Princeton and benefited from extracurricular piano lessons with Ena Bronstein Barton, head of the piano department at Westminster Choir Conservatory in Princeton. After college, while studying painting at the New York Studio School he discovered a dusty box of reel-to-reel recordings of intellectuals and artists of New York—Christo, Philip Guston, Buckminster Fuller, and more. Montalbano proposed a project to master the recordings to make them available to the public. It was accepted, and he entered the world of music technology.

Christian launched and operated several recording studios in downtown NYC.  As an engineer and producer, he worked with some well-known musicians like Fred Thomas (bass player for James Brown) and many underground punk and hip-hop bands. Referred by friend and mentor, Tim Champion, Christian frequented the tech services of Eddie Cilletti who made the introduction to John Petersen, known for his work on Miami Vice with Jan Hammer and the original MTV music theme. As a mentor, John introduced Christian to exploring his own composition skills and the world of original music for TV and film.

Christian spent the next 5 years as a jingle writer and film composer with Rave Music writing award-winning jingles for agencies and products such as Grey Advertising, JWT, Pringles, Proctor & Gamble, and Anheuser-Busch.  In long form, he scored the entire season of the anime series Power Stone as well as contributions to Pokemon, Cubix, and Yugioh. After starting his own music production company he scored the entire tv series "The Life Makeover Project with Cheryl Richardson" produced by the Oxygen Network and contributed original music to the X-box video gaming platform.  He also pursued a DJ career and had a record deal as an electronic musician with 411Records, a subsidiary of the now-defunct Avatar Studios in NYC.

Wanting to pursue his passion for the visual arts,  Christian turned to video production starting LiftMedia360—a production agency with a holistic approach to video content for nonprofit, healthcare, and design companies. While the last 12 years were spent running a successful video production company, Christian never left music composition as 95% of his client's video work was scored by him prompting a recent resurgence into music as a more full-time commitment.
